Royals Announce Milestone in Renovation Plans
Kauffman Stadium is about ready to undergo a significant renovation, made possible by a bond issue passed by Jackson County, Mo., taxpayers a year ago. Friday morning, the Royals and the county made an important announcement to keep plans moving ahead – on time and on budget.
Royals Senior Vice President of Business Operations Kevin Uhlich announced a joint venture between Walton Construction and Hunt Construction to serve as construction managers for the project. Uhlich and company and county officials answered questions from reporters in our interview room at Kauffman Stadium. They then signed papers making the agreement legal.
Over the next two to three years, Kauffman Stadium – already one of the best places to watch a baseball game in the Major Leagues – will be transformed into a state-of-the-art facility with many new amenities and enhanced features our fans have grown to love, including a bigger and better Crown Scoreboard and those beautiful fountains.
Some projects have already begun, but look for major construction around “The K” after this season. Here’s hoping we have to postpone a few days in October… for a post-season run.

i like the idea because i live in jackson county and my friends live in johnson county,ks don’t like the idea because they have to travel 30 minutes to get to the k and i only have to travel 10 minutes from blue springs mo
Do the Royals have any plans to install a live web cam so we can watch the construction progress? Okla. State has a web cam where we can watch their stadium renovations progress and I’ve enjoyed watching their renovations take shape.
Can the Royals be ALITTLE more specific on the renovation plans? Like, for one, are they planning on converting the stadium club to suites?
